The region is located in the south-western part of the Wielkopolska Voivodeship. The most important advantages of the region are its location, developed agricultural economy and tourist and leisure attractiveness.

Characteristics of the Transport System:
- Equality and accessibility are ensured to a high degree in the city of Leszno, but in rural areas on the outskirts of the municipalities, there are localities with poor access to public transportation and an insufficient number of connections to their municipal capitals and to Leszno.
- The transport system consists of urban, regional bus and rail transport.

Institutional capacity assessment:
- Cooperation within the FUA was assessed as very good. The leader is the Development Department of the Leszno City Hall, which coordinates the preparation of the SUMP. Together with other organizational units, they have experience in preparing strategic and planning documents, as well as obtaining external funds – domestic and foreign ones. The Leszno City Hall has adequate staff and specialized city units.
Interesting facts:
- The terrain of the Leszno region is diverse and is distinguished by a large share of attractive forests and wooded areas.
- Leszno and the region are famous for cycling, with one of the largest networks of bicycle paths.
