Communication toolbox is ready!

The topic of citizens’ participation in SUMP process is as vital as the others. That is why, cities and functional areas should consult their citizens on and involve them in the decision-making process concerning mobility issues. As part of Deliverable 5 of the project, the team prepared the communication toolbox with recommendations on the methodology, scope and inclusion of the opinions and suggestions of citizens in public consultations.

The team has also completed a benchmarking exercise, analysing good practices in the other EU countries, which is being reviewed currently.

The EU Member States for analysis have been chosen on the basis of a number of criteria, most notably:

· The success of the participation practices employed by in developing and implementing SUMPs;

· Alignment of the assessed country’s policy priorities with Polish policy priorities in specific areas that are pertinent for SUMPs;

· The variety of tools and participation strategies adopted in the country;

· The use of digital platforms and innovative tools.

After a careful analysis, the following 8 countries have been chosen – the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain.
